Trekking in the Selio Valley 1

Abung Waterfall

Seran Waterfall

Kotak(Putak) Waterfall

Selio Waterfall (lower)

Selio Waterfall (upper)

February/2009, I went up to the Selio Valley, Upper Silat river.
This area is located in the sothern part of Usun Apau National Park

There are many large waterfalls flowing down from the Usun Apau Plateau to the Selio river:
Abung, Tabui, Seran, Koya, Be'tajem, Talun, Putak(=Kotak), Selio
And the largest one is the Selio Waterfall.

I took five days to go and back from Long Bee.

wow nice picture of waterfall! one day i will visit this place.
Need your advice.
I'm traveling by myself. Flying into Labuan, ferry to Limbang then with tour to Mulu from 24May to 29May. Thinking of what to do between Mulu to Miri before flying to Kuching. Any affordable suggestions? Should i just fly from Miri to Mulu or am i missing something great in between?

Dear jsl

Thanks for your comment.

One of good idea is you try to visit some longhouses (=villages) along the Lower Baram river when you come back from Mulu to Miri.

At Marudi, you can find local transport from there to Long Lama, a small town. There, you can find a ferry to Marudi. Maybe 3 times a day. The latest departure time is 15:00. From Long Lama to Marudi is 2-3 hours.

There are some great longhouses, Long Banyo, Long Ikan and Kuala Tutoh. I have stay at nights at these villages last time.
You can go on these villages, and looking around the villages until next ferry. People will welcome you (they are basically very open to visitors) as long as you politely introduce yourself and ask their permit to look around and take pictures. I am sure you can easy to find the villagers who can speak English well.
If you ask them, you even can stay one night there (maybe at the house of village chief) and enjoy village life, the complex of modern and traditional. It should be great.

Have a good trip.
